A novel precast concrete beam-to-column connection with replaceable energy-dissipation connector: Experimental investigation and theoretical analysis

To avoid the damage of connection due to overstrength beam strength, and alternation strength hierarchy in structural system, a novel precast concrete beam-to-column is proposed herein. In connection, replaceable energy-dissipation connector (REDC) was placed at bottom hidden corbel. addition, narrow vertical slot adjacent corbel reduce overstrength. First, features mechanical mechanism were discussed. Second, three low-cycle quasi-static loading tests carried out on single full-scaled specimen by using REDCs different sizes. The test results showed that seismic performance this excellent additional bending moment caused significantly lower than conventional connection. Third, finite element models developed further analyze how always keep top reinforcements elastic range. Finally, relevant design suggestions provided. designed according formulas can be minimized. view this, moments regarded as controllable variable.
